Tottenham Hotspur: Fans react to latest transfer news as Willian linked with move

Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring the situation of Chelsea attacking midfielder Willian ahead of a potential summer transfer, that is according to a report from the Evening Standard.

The 31-year-old joined the Blues from Anzhi Makhachkala in 2013 for a fee of £30 million, but he had been close to moving to Spurs before their London rivals usurped them and took him to Stamford Bridge (BBC Sport).

Willian’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the season (Transfermarkt) and according to Brazilian outlet UOL he has rejected Chelsea’s latest renewal offer and has already had approaches from other clubs in the English top flight. If the Standard are to be believed, then it seems that Spurs are one of those, although they also suggest that Blues boss Frank Lampard is desperate to keep him.

The 69-time Brazil international has played 36 times in all competitions for Chelsea this season, scoring six goals and providing five assists. Overall he has played 328 times for the West London outfit, scoring 58 and assisting 58 (Transfermarkt).

Plenty of Spurs fans have been reacting after seeing the transfer link between themselves and Willian. It seems that quite a few wouldn’t want their club to sign the 31-year-old, whilst others have mocked the fact that it would be a free transfer with some jokingly suggesting that would still be too expensive for Daniel Levy…

Spurs fans, would you take Willian? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
