Tottenham leading the chase for Sander Berge

Tottenham Hotspur recorded an emphatic win against Chelsea at the weekend as they look ahead to a crunch game against Inter Milan in the Champions League.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side handed Maurizio Sarri’s Blues their first defeat of the season and leapfrogged them into third in the Premier League as they continued their best ever start to a Premier League season.

Considering that they have had a number of injuries to key men throughout the early stages of the campaign, as well as the well-documented fact that they did not sign anybody in the summer, it makes the feat all that more impressive.

However, with the January transfer window around the corner, it appears that Pochettino will look to make additions and could be set to beat all the competition to one man’s signature.

According to a report by TeamTALK, Tottenham are thought to be leading the chase for Sander Berge and could make a move in the winter market.

The 20-year-old has shone whilst at Genk in Belgium, although the midfielder is thought to have been on Spurs’ radar for the last four years or so.

The Norway international is thought to be available for around €15million, however, Pochettino is thought to face competition from Arsenal, Everton and West Ham to land him.

It is also claimed that the north London outfit will make a move for him only if they make space for him, with Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama’s futures currently in doubt.

The Verdict:

Tottenham will likely need to add in the winter if they are to compete for silverware and Berge could be a great addition.

Already highly-rated, Pochettino has a track record of working with young players and developing them into outstanding talents, something the 20-year-old could benefit from.

Although they are believed to be leading the chase, it remains to be seen if they do indeed make an offer for him in the winter, which appears to be resting on the futures of the club’s other midfielders.
