Tottenham Hotspur could do with bringing in at least one attacker at some point today, despite witnessing Fernando Llorente’s late goal against Watford last night.
Mauricio Pochettino has had to deal with losing the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli to injury, so things haven’t exactly been easy in terms of selecting a side.
And, it looks as if the North London club have decided against a possible swoop for an attacker, as according to Sky Sports News, Spurs have pulled out of talks with Chelsea over Michy Batshuayi.
Spurs were understood (as per Mundo Deportivo) to be keen on signing the Belgian, and had reportedly made an offer, but they now look to have pulled out of negotiations.
Interestingly, the Lilywhites were offered the player on loan but they have decided not to pursue the 25-year-old.
Indeed, with Harry Kane currently spending time out on the sidelines, it remains to be seen as to why Spurs have decided against a move for Batshuayi, who would have provided the appropriate cover in his absence.
THE VERDICT:
Michy Batshuayi, who is valued at £27 million (by Transfermarkt), has shown that he can score bags of goals in England as he was looking sharp during the 2017/18 season, as well on loan at Borussia Dortmund.
Harry Kane’s absence has meant that Pochettino has had to call on Fernando Llorente, who hasn’t always been able to ensure consistency in front of goal in North London, so pulling out of the race to sign Batshuayi is a gamble.
