Tottenham Hotspur are already planning for next season amid a tense fight for Premier League survival.
Currently 17th in the table with just seven matches remaining, Spurs are a single point above the relegation zone and still searching for their first league win of the calendar year.
The arrival of Roberto De Zerbi, their third manager this season following Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor, has brought hope, but results have yet to turn around.
With their top-flight status uncertain, Spurs are looking ahead to the summer transfer window, particularly at key positions that could need reinforcement.
One area of focus is goalkeeping, where a high-profile exit could create an urgent need.
Spurs Monitoring Trafford
Tottenham have reportedly identified Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford as a potential target, should current No.1 Guglielmo Vicario depart.
Vicario, 29, is expected to leave this summer, with Serie A side Inter Milan expressing strong interest.
Spurs will need a replacement regardless of whether they survive relegation, and Trafford, 23, has emerged as a viable option, according to The Sun.
Trafford returned to City earlier this season after the club paid £27 million to bring back their academy graduate. However, the arrival of Italy international Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain pushed him down the pecking order. Trafford did start City’s recent 4-0 FA Cup quarter-final win over Liverpool but has yet to feature in the Premier League since Donnarumma’s signing.
If Vicario does leave, Tottenham could move quickly to secure Trafford as their new first-choice goalkeeper, providing stability at the back for next season.
