Tottenham and Liverpool could be set to face off for the signature of Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi. Guehi has one year remaining on his contract and Palace are understood to have set a value of £50m for his services.
Liverpool are keen on the player and are understood to be monitoring his situation but would need to act fast as Tottenham have also registered their interest in the England international. It was Tottenham that launched a concrete bid for the Guehi in January, offering £70m which was rejected by Palace.
The Mirror has reported that both clubs are now keeping tabs on the player who has not yet indicated where his future lies. Both clubs can offer the player Champions League football which would be a welcome change of pace given Palace’s recent controversial relegation to the Conference League.
Liverpool are expected to continue their spending spree this summer, having wrapped up their fourth signing of the window with the £79m move for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike. A central defender could be next for the Reds, having sold young defender Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen for £35m.
Spurs, Liverpool to battle for Guehi

As it stands Spurs seem the more likely to hit the £50m mark for the player, especially if the question marks surrounding the future of Cristian Romero hold true. Romero has been heavily linked to Atletico Madrid with the player himself admitting La Liga is the league missing from his football resume.
A replacement for Romero would then be a priority for Spurs should the Argentina international depart the club. Spurs might move for Guehi in any case though, given that Romero and Micky van de Ven struggled with injuries for much of last season.
Spurs were left thin in centre backs for much of last season, with Ben Davies having to deputize alongside Radu Dragusin for large stretches.
As for Liverpool, they are close to spending £300m this summer including Ekitike. They are understood to be weighing up their options and would prioritize another forward signing if Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz both leave.
The latter seemingly has one foot out of the door at Anfield having so far refused a new contract. Bayern Munich are keen on the player and are preparing a fresh bid after having their first offer rejected.
The Reds are known to be open to letting Nunez go however, and could use the funds from his sale to do further business.
