Tottenham may have earned a 1-1 draw with Liverpool at the weekend, but the result has done little to ease the growing pressure surrounding the club.
Spurs remain just one point above the relegation zone in 16th place, and their form across the season continues to be a major concern.
Perhaps most worrying of all is the fact that Tottenham are the only Premier League side yet to record a league victory this calendar year. With the relegation battle tightening and only a handful of games remaining, the focus at the club is firmly on survival.
However, plans for next season are already being discussed behind the scenes. If Spurs manage to retain their top-flight status, strengthening their attacking options appears to be a key priority.
Tottenham Keen to Sign Jonathan David
According to a report from Tuttosport, Tottenham are monitoring the situation of Juventus striker Jonathan David ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Italian club are reportedly open to the possibility of selling the Canadian international, which has alerted several Premier League teams. Tottenham are believed to be among the clubs considering a move, although Nottingham Forest and West Ham United are also said to be keeping an eye on developments.
David only joined Juventus last summer after arriving on a free transfer, but his time in Turin may already be nearing an end. Because he cost the club nothing in transfer fees, a potential deal is not expected to be particularly expensive.
The 26-year-old forward — described as a “superstar” by Canada teammate Jonathan Osorio — has received plenty of opportunities this season, particularly when Dusan Vlahovic was sidelined through injury. Despite those chances, he has managed seven goals in 39 appearances across all competitions.
Initially viewed as a long-term successor to Vlahovic, David’s position at the club has weakened in recent weeks. The Serbian striker is now reportedly in talks over a contract extension that would keep him in Turin beyond the current campaign, leaving David increasingly likely to depart this summer.
If Tottenham do manage to avoid relegation, the club could be active in the transfer market as they attempt to rebuild after a difficult campaign. Jonathan David’s uncertain situation at Juventus may present an opportunity, but with other Premier League sides also interested, Spurs could face strong competition for the striker’s signature.
