Tottenham team news: Juan Foyth ineligible as Spurs host Inter Milan

Tottenham Hotspur will host Inter Milan on Wednesday night in the Champions League as they look to try and give themselves a great chance of qualifying for the next round.

A win for Spurs will put them level on points with the Serie A outfit, although a trip to the Camp Nou will await the north Londoners.

Following their emphatic win against Chelsea at the weekend, Mauricio Pochettino will want to see his side replicate their performance, however, it appears that he will be without a couple of key players for the game.

According to the club’s official website, Juan Foyth is ineligible to play, leaving the Argentine with some defensive problems.

Davinson Sanchez is out with a hamstring injury, although Jan Vertonghen could come into the team after being sidelined since the end of September.

Danny Rose could also make a return as he has been working hard on his attempts to get back to full fitness, whilst Kieran Trippier, Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele all remain unavailable.

The Verdict:

Foyth has recently excelled in the middle of the Tottenham defence and his absence will be a blow to Spurs, although Vertonghen’s expected return will reduce the damage significantly.

Pochettino’s side will need to win the game against Inter to keep their Champions League hopes alive, otherwise, they will be looking at playing in the Europa League in 2019.

The Wembley outfit lost their previous meeting against the Nerazzurri in the final moments of the game and will want to ensure a repeat of that night in Milan does not happen again.
