Deadline Day here in the Transfer Tavern is always a special occasion and it’s set to be a hectic one with the punters already flowing through the doors in order to try and keep up with the action.
Though recent Deadline Days have not really lived up to the hype, this one looks set to have plenty of different story lines running for the duration of it and one recent one that’s come to pass is from the Mirror.
Indeed, they allege that West Ham and Tottenham are in a battle for Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes ahead of the deadline later tonight.
In a deal that hadn’t been mentioned prior to today really, this would be some surprise, but whoever signs him would be getting a class international midfielder.
The Portuguese star is very capable of playing amongst the best in the game and would surely be an asset to either club should he end up there.
This story, then, has got plenty of Spurs and West Ham fans talking and now we’ll just have to wait to see if Gomes does move and, if so, where to.
Landlord’s Verdict
Deadline Day has always got a few stories like this hovering about and it could be a rather interesting narrative to keep across.
Both London clubs need to try and improve their squads before the window shuts later today and now it remains to be seen just where Gomes sees his future lying.
