Valencia snubbed move to Fulham in January

Fulham have struggled to ensure consistency up until this point in the current campaign, with relegation looking likely at this moment in time.

The Cottagers managed to secure the services of Lazar Markovic, Ryan Babel and Havard Nordtveit during the January transfer window, so they’re now well prepared in attacking and midfield areas.

However, it appears as if one of the London club’s January targets turned down a move to Craven Cottage, as according to The Sun, Antonio Valencia snubbed a deadline day move to Fulham.

It was understood that Fulham were tracking the Ecuador international last month, but they came up short in their pursuit as the experienced defender snubbed a move to the English capital.

Indeed, the Cottagers still secured the services of Havard Nordtveit, so they at least managed to bring in some experience, but missing out on a defender will come as a huge blow.

THE VERDICT:

Fulham currently find themselves battling for relegation at the bottom of the table, so they could have done with signing Antonio Valencia, who is valued at £6.3 million (by Transfermarkt).

The Cottagers will have to rely on their current batch of defenders to ensure survival in the current campaign, which could prove costly as they’ve struggled to ensure defensive solidity up until this point.
