Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern today were delighted to see a new update on the new stadium from the clubs official Twitter account. Ledley King, who made 309 appearances for his boyhood club between 1998 and 2012, delivered the update that Spurs fans loved. King told of how the concourse at the new stadium has been made from the crushed aggregate of the old stadium, White Hart Lane.
White Hart Lane was Spurs home for 118 years, between 1899 and 2017 and when it was demolished at the end of the 2016/17 season it had a maximum capacity 36,284. Fittingly, in Spurs’ final season at the Lane, they went unbeaten in the Premier League at home, winning 17 and drawing 2 of their 19 matches. White Hart Lane will forever be remembered by Tottenham fans with a number of memorable results at the stadium including the 9-1 demolition of Wigan Athletic back in November 2009, amongst other great moments.
In the time between the demolition of White Hart Lane and the opening of the new stadium, Spurs have been playing their home games at Wembley. During Spurs’ time at their temporary home this season, they’ve broken attendance records for the Premier League and for an English side in European competition, however fans of the North London club will be looking forward to settling into a stadium that they can call home again, as they did with the much loved White Hart Lane.

Love this. Another reason that the new stadium should just be called White Hart Lane. Please keep the name. That would be the single greatest thing Daniel Levy could ever do in his time at the club. #COYS
