The Leeda fans in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing Cardiff boss, Neil Warnock. The 69-year-old Championship master secured promotion to the Premier League taking his tally of promotions to 8. This time Cardiff benefitted from the gaffer’s ways as they pipped Fulham to 2nd place, leading Leeds fans to question why the Sheffield-born coach couldn’t crack Leeds. Neil Warnock was appointed as Leeds boss back in February 2012, but he only lasted 14 months in Yorkshire before he was sacked in April 2013 after taking charge of just 62 games for the Elland Road faithful. After a long career that has seen him set the incredible record for most promotions for a single manager in the English football league, the one club that stands out as one that he was unable to crack is Leeds United.
The short time that Warnock spent in Yorkshire with Leeds was hampered by the gaffers’ significant lack of funds that were available to him. Warnock planned to build a team around Robert Snodgrass, although the Scot was carted off to Norwich by the club’s board whilst they were on a pre-season tour of Cornwall. Without Warnock’s star player, he was left playing predictable and one-dimensional football. Couple this with the on-going sale of the club behind the scenes and it’s clear as to why Warnock was “in a straightjacket” as he put it himself.

Just came down to the ownership situation then. Warnock needs a very strong owner who'd just back him bliny and aggressively. We were a mess back then and a mess in transition.
