A question on Twitter about Charlie Austin has prompted polarised opinions from some West Brom supporters.
Albion fan page @BaggiesHQ asked followers whether the 30-year-old would be the team’s main striker next season if they are in the Premier League, sparking a debate about the ex-Southampton man.

A £4m signing from the Saints last August, Austin has scored nine goals for West Brom this season, making him their second highest scorer behind Hal Robson-Kanu. He has been particularly effective as an impact substitute, coming off the bench to score decisive goals against Sheffield Wednesday, Preston and Birmingham during a rich spell in the run-up to Christmas (as per WhoScored).
However, he has only scored once since mid-December and not even that flurry of goals towards the end of 2019 could earn him a regular starting spot in Slaven Bilic’s side – Austin has started only three Championship games since the November international break (as per WhoScored).
