Both West Bromwich Albion and Leeds United have slipped up somewhat in the Sky Bet Championship of late with form tailing off and that has offered hope to those below them.
The likes of Fulham, Brentford and Nottingham Forest have all chipped away at the gap and will feel as though they can continue to do so in the coming weeks.
It’s up to the top two to try and build that back up, then, and the Baggies’ next chance to do that comes against Stoke City on Monday night.
They’ll know all the other results from the weekend by then and it’ll be interesting to see how they deal with that with FA Cup action then back on the agenda next weekend.
