West Bromwich Albion were handed a slim FA Cup defeat by Newcastle after a thrilling 3-2 result. Baggies fans are naturally disappointed with the loss, but fingers are being pointed at two players in particular.
Albion supporters are at the end of their tether with Gareth Barry and Chris Brunt, who put in a very subpar performances last night. 39-year-old Barry lost possession three times in midfield and was dribbled past an alarming four times. Brunt – who wore the captain’s armband last night – was even sloppier in the middle of the park, losing possession 16 times. (via SofaScore).
Barry joined West Brom in 2017 after making 99 appearances for Everton – he was released by the club due to injury but rejoined Albion in November last year. Since re-signing, he has played just 89 minutes in the Championship and has made three appearances in the FA Cup (via TransferMarkt).
Fans were less than impressed with the duo’s performances against Newcastle, with many stating that ‘it’s time for them to retire’. One fan has branded Brunt ‘completely useless’ while another compared the two to the Chuckle Brothers…
Brunt and Barry. It’s laughable. Retire. #wba
