West Brom moved back on top of the Sky Bet Championship last night with a last-gasp win against Preston at Deepdale via a Charlie Austin goal from the penalty spot.
The Baggies have been very strong so far this season and have lost just the once – to fellow promotion battlers Leeds United.
They are the top side in the league so far, though, with them edging out Preston 1-0 to open up a real gap up at the top of the league.
Certainly, it seems everything is going right for Slaven Bilic and his side at the moment and fans will hope that in this period of form they will be able to build a real lead ahead of 3rd place.
Austin got the winner, then, and sent a message to fans after the game, though it wasn’t lost on some onlookers that the penalty that was earned was controversial – and some even went to lengths to dig up his comments from his time at Southampton about VAR.
