Simone Zaza has had a torrid start to life in the Premier League, and it would appear that his tenure with West Ham could be over before it has even started – much to the relief of the West Ham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern.
Speaking to Calcio Mercato, Zaza’s agent has revealed that the West Ham forward’s future in London remains unclear.
In response to being questioned about whether Zaza could leave, he said: “I can’t ensure that he’s going to stay at the club until the end of the season, nor I can’t say that he’s definitely going to leave.”
Zaza’s agent also said that he was in discussions with West Ham: “I’ll be in London the day after tomorrow to meet my son and the club”.
Interestingly, he also confirmed that Zaza would be happy to join either AC Milan or Napoli should they come in, which may suggest that he is already looking for potential new clubs for the flop.
Much of what he says is very non-commital, but our landlord thinks that there are several things that can be picked out of this.
The most important is undoubtedly his refusal to confirm that Zaza would stay at the club. This, combined with the fact that he said a Napoli or Milan move would be accepted, would seem to suggest to our landlord that he already has one eye on a departure”.
The fact that he is talking to West Ham also says a lot, as it would seem to confirm that neither party are currently happy with the arrangement.
It is going to be an interesting January for the West Ham fans in the Tavern, that is for sure. With the Hammers struggling in the league this season, Slaven Bilic has a lot of work to do.
