Plenty of West Ham United supporters have been left fuming after watching an interview that their vice-chairman Karren Brady did with Sky News on Tuesday.
In the interview, Brady discussed why the club was currently underperforming and the investment that had been put into the club. Indeed the Deloitte Football Money League confirmed recently that the Hammers were amongst the top 20 clubs in the world for revenue in 18/19 (BBC Sport); however, they currently sit in a lowly 16th place in the Premier League (BBC Sport).
Speaking to Sky News, she said: “We’ve obviously invested over £200m in the team, brought in a Premier League winning manager [recently-sacked Manuel Pellegrini] at very expensive cost, and the things that we have done haven’t worked out – but that’s part and parcel of running a business.
“Having the money and being in the money league is one thing, delivering expectations, hopes and dreams of supporters is something very different and we are very focused on that and ensuring that West ham is part of the Premier League for a very long future.”
She also emphasised that they didn’t regret moving to the London Stadium from Upton Park whilst also saying that people at the club, including David Moyes, were working hard for January signings but that it wasn’t an easy market to work in.
It is fair to say that lots of West Ham fans weren’t happy at all with what Brady had to say on Sky News, with many slamming her and owners David Gold and David Sullivan for how they were running the club afterwards. Here is how some reacted to her comments on Twitter…
Karren Brady stating the difficulty of January signings is nothing more than a predetermined excuse for when they fail to bring in a player worthy of their place in a PL team yet again in this transfer window. The only reason this was said was due to cover themselves in two weeks

Literally feel sick that they are allowed to voice an opinion on what they have done to my club, nothing less than murdered it.

@karren_brady 10 years a net annual spend of £21m. World Class it ain’t. You promised leaving Upton Park would make us World Class, 10 years after your disastrous tenure we are exactly where we were when you took over, relegation threatened, but in a soulless athletics stadium.

Literally destroyed a whole football club. Well done @karren_brady

£200m and no improvement. What skills do they have and why haven’t they used them already? Finished 7th in our last season at the Boleyn, why has the move saved us from relegation? Previously stated we would have a world class team so why are transfers difficult in January?
