West Ham are clearly looking to build a squad for the future if their latest transfer news is anything to go by, as it is being reported that David Moyes is a fan of 20 year-old Jack Tucker.
The Glasgow Evening Times posted an interview with Gillingham manager Steve Evans, who spoke about his young defender and said: “We played West Ham earlier this season in the cup and [David Moyes] is a big admirer of Jack. We know we’re not going to be able to stop the kid moving on but obviously it’s got to be right for the club and, more importantly, right for Jack.”

The player emerged into the Gills squad this season and has now become a consistent starter, making 26 appearances whilst managing on average 1.5 tackles per game, 1.3 interceptions, and 3.3 clearances, via WhoScored. This shows that he loves to get stuck in and is also good at it, and he looks like he has the potential to become a good centre-back.
It is too early to tell whether he can produce the same type of performances in the Premier League, but he is valued at only £1.5 million so it could be worth taking the risk because if he fulfils he potential he could develop into one of the East London side’s first names on the team sheet for many years.
It seems that some Hammers fans are divided about the potential signing however. Whilst some agree that he wouldn’t cost much and would be worth a punt given his potential, others aren’t as sure as they can’t see him playing in the team ahead of Angelo Ogbonna and Issa Diop. They may well change their minds in the summer however, with the latter having been linked heavily with a move away from the London Stadium…
West Ham boss David Moyes is a big admirer of Gillingham defender Jack Tucker, according to Gills manager Steve Evans.
The 20-year-old centre back is valued at £1.5m, and it is believed that the Hammers have been scouting him for the past six months.

Cant see him starting ahead of Diop or Ogbonna tbh, maybe in the future with Cardoso and Tucker as our starting CBs

Been watching him through his bedroom for the last 3 months then. Must have some skills 😂😂

Don’t know him, but I think any player Moyes rates at that age & vale is going to be worth a punt. Worse case scenario we give him a year & sell him on for roughly what we paid.

Peanuts compared to some wasters we have at West ham
