West Ham United captain Mark Noble has urged everyone connected with the club to “stick together” as they battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League (via @whufc.co.uk).
The 32-year-old was speaking following the Hammers’ disappointing 4-1 defeat against Leicester City on Wednesday, a result which left them outside the bottom three on goal difference (BBC Sport).
Noble, who scored West Ham’s only goal at the King Power from the penalty spot, refused to be too downbeat after the result and insisted that there was still plenty of time to turn things around. Speaking to the club’s official website, he said: “There is still a long way to go and there are still a lot of points to play for and this game and this league changes so often, so we’ll stick at it. We’ve got a tough three or four weeks coming up but we need to stick together.”
It has certainly been a tough campaign for the Irons, who sacked Manuel Pellegrini back in December following a run of nine defeats in 12 matches (BBC Sport). They turned to David Moyes to get them out of trouble, but so far the Scot has failed to turn things around with just one win in his four league matches in charge (Transfermarkt).
The response from fans to Noble’s comments have been quite negative. Indeed many responded by slating him and the rest of the team for not performing and insisted that it was simply not good enough. Here is what some had to say on Twitter…
