West Ham make contact about signing Olivier Giroud

West Ham United will be desperate to forget about Tuesday night’s performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers as they were stuffed 3-0 away from home.

The Hammers need to bring in at least one player on Deadline Day as evident improvements are needed at this moment in time, with their potential push for a European spot depending on it.

Interestingly, it looks as if Manuel Pellegrini already has a possible late signing in his sights, as according to The Daily Mail, West Ham have made contact about signing Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud.

West Ham United are believed to be among the clubs to have asked about France international Olivier Giroud.

Indeed, the forward hasn’t been able to secure regular minutes in the current campaign at Stamford Bridge, with Gonzalo Higuain’s recent arrival only complicating things.

So, it looks as if the Hammers are weighing up a move for the 32-year-old, with concerns over the injury that Marko Arnautovic picked up at Molineux, as well as Maxi Gomez being reluctant to make the move to London.

THE VERDICT:

Olivier Giroud, who is valued at £13.5 million (by Transfermarkt), has shown that he can ensure a consistent flow of goals in previous seasons in the Premier League, so he could prove to be a valuable asset for the Hammers.

Of course, with Javier Hernandez possibly departing and with Marko Arnautovic’s injury causing concern, it’s vital that Manuel Pellegrini secures a striker as their season depends on it.
