West Ham must be fearful of these 2 things happening during the January transfer window

It’s been a tricky start to the season for West Ham United in the Premier League, and their fans here in the Transfer Tavern are a little concerned with matters on and off the pitch.

After a turbulent move to the London Stadium in Stratford, everyone involved at the club has been a little concerned with matters moving forward.

Results have been poor on the pitch for most of the season and the Dimitri Payet saga has well and truly divided the club’s fanbase.

Most of the punters here in the pub would be happy to see the Frenchman leave after he publicly declared his unwillingness to stay at the club, but there are some that are still holding onto his shirt hoping he’ll play for the club again.

But with the January transfer window now upon us, there are certainly some things that West Ham will be fearful of moving forwards across the month.

So with that in mind, here’s TWO things they’ll need to watch out for this window…

Losing Dimitri Payet

Love him or loathe him right now, there’s absolutely no doubting that Dimitri Payet remains West Ham’s most talented player on the pitch.

His attitude certainly hasn’t been right over the past few days but as we’ve seen over the past few months, the power he possesses in the Hammers frontline is incomparable to anything else they have in the team right now.

He can change games at the click of a finger and West Ham will be fearful of losing him, whatever has gone on over the past week or so.

Not bringing in some quality players

West Ham have struggled at times this season and only a couple of weeks ago they were beaten comprehensively by Manchester City at the London Stadium.

Their fans here in the pub were a lot happier with the win over Palace but the inconsistency shows that they do need some additions going forward this campaign.

A couple of quality additions should rid the club of any lingering relegation fears but the need to bring in a couple of names is very real indeed.
