Our West Ham fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for a brighter season next year and they’re confident it will be provided summer goes well.
Indeed, they were confident about this year going well, too, but Slaven Bilic had a shocker in the transfer market and so they have been playing serious catch-up ever since.
As long as you learn from your mistakes, though, it shouldn’t really matter and that is exactly what the Croatian will need to prove he has done when the window opens next.
It does appear, though, he is looking to take another gamble on an unproven Premier League striker, though he should be better than Simone Zaza.
That’s because Talksport have referred to the suggestion that Mario Mandzukic is a target for the Hammers.
He’d surely be a better option to have than much of what they’ve had recently, of course, but you still have to wonder whether the club would be better going for a proven Premier League goal-scorer.
If Mandzukic inexplicably flops they’ll be in the same boat as this season, too, and that will not sit well with many of the Irons’ support.
