Our West Ham fans here in the Transfer Tavern really cannot wait for the summer to come round so they can forget about this seemingly most turbulent of seasons.
Of course, being Hammers fans they also know that they have had it worse than this year but that does not mean this campaign has not had its low points because it surely has.
Indeed, stadium issues, player performances dropping and manager speculation have all thrown spanners into the works throughout the year and it looks like there is more to come.
In recent times skipper Mark Noble has been criticised for his displays and the captain has come out more than fighting in response to such comments.
Typically, too, the Hammers icon pulled no punches in his response and, as quoted by Sky Sports, he said:
“If I am really honest, a lot of people who now go to football don’t really understand the game.
“Football is a game of moments now and if someone does four step-overs, they’ve had an incredible game.
“That’s not something I do. It’s just football, you’ve got to live with it.”
Strong words from the skipper, then, but you can see where he’s coming from.
He’s never been your typical flair player and they do seem more and more in vogue these days leaving those like him often out in the cold.
It doesn’t reflect well on Hammers fans though, for sure, and so we’re half expecting another back-lash in the coming weeks.
