West Ham United: Fans react as Issa Diop is linked to rivals Tottenham Hotspur

A lot of West Ham fans are reacting to the news linking London rivals Tottenham Hotspur with defender Issa Diop.

According to footmercato, via West Ham news, the North London side have been in ‘consistent contact’ with the French centre-back as manager Jose Mourinho is an admirer of the player. The Hammers are trying to put them off the transfer by placing a €60 million (£52.5m) price tag on him.

The fact that Spurs and West Ham are bitter rivals also might stop any deal from happening, but if it were to go through, fans of the East London side may well lose their admiration for the player.

The Frenchman has been linked to numerous clubs this season including Atletico Madrid and Arsenal, so fans are used to the links, but the fact they won’t go away must be frustrating and making them worry that the inevitable will happen.

However some fans feel happy to accept a price tag like the one being mentioned, with one saying: “Please sell”.

The 23 year-old has made on average an impressive 1.7 interceptions and 5.3 clearances per game, via WhoScored, highlighting he is key at breaking up oppositions attacks, and without him the Irons might have conceded more than the 50 goals they have this season. This is the 3rd most in the division, via Sofascore.

Here is what fans thought following the tweet:
