West Ham United are set for talks to sign Club Brugge star Hans Vanaken after seeing their opening bid rejected, according to reports.

The Lowdown: Hammers keep busy...

Ahead of a long and gruelling 2022/2023 Premier League season, manager David Moyes is looking to bolster his options further and bounce back after two consecutive defeats.

Losses to Man City and Nottingham Forest don't exactly get the Hammers off to a flying start as the club hierarchy attempt to seal moves for long-standing targets who can make a difference.

One of which, Belgium international Vanaken, has been heavily linked to a London Stadium move but it is believed West Ham have had an opening bid rejected for the player.

The Latest: West Ham set for Vanaken talks...

Now, according to a new report, there has been an update on West Ham's chase.

90min claim the east Londoners 'will resume talks' to sign the 29-year-old with Moyes' side set for negotiations.

It's added that West Ham are pushing for Vanaken's signature and Moyes himself is a 'big fan'.

The Verdict: Get it done?

Called a player 'all footballers want' in their side by ex-teammate Jelle Vossen, the attacking midfielder stood out last season with 11 goals and nine assists in the Jupiler Pro League alone (WhoScored).

Vanaken's colossal 6 foot 4 frame marks him out as a target who is a tailor-made for English football, at least physically, with another former teammate in Onur Kaya hailing the Belgian's technical ability and 'extraordinary' football IQ.

Depending on the price Brugge are willing to sell at, he could be an astute purchase for West Ham and may provide Moyes with a very unique option in the forward areas.
