A lot of West Ham fans are struggling to believe the latest rumours circulating on Twitter suggesting that a takeover could be happening at the club.
Indykaila News has reported that ‘mystery Middle East’ investors contacted the club and this news has come from a ‘source who is very close’ to current owner David Gold.
Since football has been postponed due to recent events, the Hammers’ Premier League rivals Newcastle United have been the subject of takeover talk, with a supposedly close. The Magpies seem to on the verge to being rid of current owner Mike Ashley for Amanda Staveley who is heading up a Saudi Arabian consortium looking to move into St James’ Park, per talkSPORT.
The Hammers also have been linked with Red Bull, via The Daily Star, who currently own Bundesliga side RB Leipzig and Austrian outfit RB Salzburg, however nothing seems to have come about. The fact that they are now linked with a takeover from other parties is very interesting but for now it is uncertain how true either rumour surrounding the Irons is. However, the fan base have been in heavy conflict with the owners for many campaigns and that could see Gold, David Sullivan, and Karren Brady want to sell.
It seems that most West Ham fans are sceptical about the reported takeover interest however, with many responding to the post on Twitter panning the rumours.
Here is what some had to say following the news:
Heard from source who is very close to @davidgold that mystery Middle East investors contacted @WestHam for full takeover.
We are happy for David Gold to dismiss our story hence why @ him in this tweet. #WHUFC

Rough translation:
You’ve tagged David Gold because you know damn well he’s been too scared to post anything on Twitter for two months.
As soon as he does he’ll trigger another avalanche of #GSBOUT.
