Following West Ham United’s 5-0 loss against Manchester City on Saturday, Jack Wilshere has spoken about the expectations for the upcoming game against Brighton & Hove Albion on the Hammers’ official channels.
What will have caught the eye of many is his statement that “it’ll be a different game against Brighton”:

This implies that it will be an easier game and while on paper playing Brighton is a much more promising prospect than facing City, this is still a team who won their first game under a new manager 3-0.
In addition, the Hammers have lost three and drawn once in their four Premier League encounters against Brighton, as per 11v11.
Some West Ham fans feel they have seen this type of comment enough times in the past to know they don’t normally end with a positive result.
