Despite being the clubs top Premiership goalscorer Hugo Rodallega finds himself on the fringes of the Wigan team as of late.
Rodallega has been on rocky ground since last summer when he stalled over a new contract. This bad feeling again reared its head last month, with Wigan boss Martinez warning the Columbian to “get back to his best”.
The Striker himself reflected on his recent time at Wigan – “I have never suffered a goal drought like this season. This is a nightmare for me – I just honestly do not believe it.”
Martinez has since claimed that he does not wish to see the striker leave according to The Mirror, but Rodallega’s contract expires this summer and Chairman Dave Whelan does not want the player to leave for free the Chairman told the same paper. It seems a move away now may benefit all those involved
Despite his history with the club, his recent lack of form means most Wigan fans would likely not be heartbroken to see him leave. Although Arsenal fans may now be worrying that he will be their latest mid-level signing.
