Sunderland have been one of the Premier League’s biggest strugglers all season and it’s clear to see why former Manchester United boss David Moyes has had it tough with supporters for the majority of the campaign.

Rooted to the bottom of the Premier League, the Black Cats will do well to escape from relegation this time out and their fans in the Tavern believe it’s about time they served some sort of punishment for a dreadful couple of years.

Money has run out, players aren’t performing and the atmosphere amongst the fans in the stadium has been dire for most of the campaign.

And with a tough run of games on the horizon, things aren’t about to get any easier for Moyes and his players, who need as many points as possible in their next few games.

Liam Bridcutt

Liam Bridcutt left the club last summer and he’s moved to a Leeds United side that have been knocking on the door of the Premier League all season.

Whilst he didn’t have the worst of spells in the north east, he struggled to break into the squad at times and is now looking to rebuild his career as captain at Elland Road.

There aren’t too many fans in the pub that have any bad blood against him, especially after his struggles to get into the first-team side.

Marcos Alonso

Easily one of the best performers to have left Sunderland over the past couple of years is full-back Marcos Alonso, who is currently playing with Chelsea.

He joined Sunderland on-loan back in 2014 and has since gone onto become one of the Premier League’s biggest stars, something punters here in the pub are a little surprised about.

Slowly but surely he’s become one of England’s best and you can’t knock him either – he’s become a very tidy little player indeed.
