Plenty of money has been spent over the summer once again, and the Sky Bet Championship has once again seen its heavyweights chuck the big bucks around as teams vie for a place in the Premier League.
Here in the Transfer Tavern, our punters have sat and watched in shock at some of the fees which have been paid in the second tier, with the likes of Wolves, Sheffield Wednesday, and Middlesbrough all making big splashes in the market.
One team who have spent wisely though and have brought in a whole host of new players is Leeds United. Under Thomas Christiansen, the club have set about reinventing themselves this summer, and our landlord thinks they could well be in good shape to make a real challenge for the title.
If their start is anything to go by, then his judgement could well be right. Undefeated in five games with three wins under their belts and two draws, Leeds have looked every bit a promotion contender.
The loss of Chris Wood is bound to hit them hard, but the £15m fee recouped and the players Christiansen has brought in look every bit like being able to replace the big New Zealander.
If Leeds can continue their good form and get Elland Road rocking once more, it really could be their time. A solid defence led by Pontus Jansson, class in the midfield area with the likes of Vurnon Anita and Kalvin Phillips, and goals aplenty up top in the likes of Samuel Saiz and Kemar Roofe, look to have Leeds heading in the right direction.
Leeds fans, what do you think? Can you win the league? Let us know your thoughts!
