Morgan Gibbs-White was among the scorers for Wolves in last night’s 4-0 Europa League qualifying victory against FC Pyunik at Molineux, grabbing the home team’s second goal of the night.
It was the 19-year-old’s first competitive goal for Wolves’ senior team and Tim Spiers, Wolves correspondent for the Express & Star, rushed to the defence of the player in the wake of some criticism.
Seen so many snide comments about Gibbs-White recently, no idea why. Hopefully that shuts everyone up – the kid (stress the word kid) is a ridiculously talented player. There's a reason Nuno hasn't sent him out on loan – he sees a star there. That'll be the first of many goals.

The teenage midfielder has had to rely mostly on action off the bench in recent months, starting only five Premier League games last season but making 26 top flight appearances in total.
Last night was his second start of the Europa League qualifying campaign, having also been in the line-up that began the 2-0 home win against Crusaders in late July.
Gibbs-White played 1,028 minutes of first team football last season but did not score in that time and provided just one assist.
In 57 appearances for Wolves’ first team so far, he has just one goal and one assist, a ratio which does not suggest that he will be hugely prolific in the future.
However, these Wolves supporters agreed with Spiers’ assertion that the midfielder has been unjustly criticised and will get better as his fledgling career develops:

I don’t understand why people would be making comments about him he’s class

He should be treated like royalty, hope he gets a standing ovation, he should also be given a free pass if he doesn't perform every week
