Liverpool are interested in signing Watford winger Ismaila Sarr according to Spanish reports (via Sport Witness).

The lowdown: Long-standing admirers

Following a stunning brace against the Reds in their title-winning season, Liverpool were heavily linked with a move for the 24-year-old ace back in 2020 before signing Diogo Jota from Wolves.

Since then, Sarr has continued to impress at the London club, first in earning promotion back to the top-flight before lighting up the Premier League once again at times this season, though he has struggled with injuries.

Despite being under contract at Vicarage Road until 2024 (Transfermarkt), it would appear from a fresh update that Jurgen Klopp is still keen on landing the Senegal international.

The latest: On the 'list'

The report from Fichajes, as translated by SW, has claimed that Sarr is the attacking option that the German boss 'likes most' ahead of the summer transfer window.

As a result of this admiration, Liverpool have placed the 39-cap Africa Cup of Nations winner on their 'list' of targets, with the report naming him a 'cheaper option' amidst the 'uncertainty around the future of Mohamed Salah'.

The verdict: A new era

With the signings of Jota and more recently Luis Diaz, Klopp has already begun rejuvenating the attacking department at Anfield, and the versatile Sarr could be the next piece.

Already a proven operator at Premier League level, he has provided 17 direct goal involvements in 44 total top flight showings in what is a rather poor Hornets side.

He previously gave Andy Robertson a torrid time, despite the Scottish left-back being forewarned by Sarr's compatriot Sadio Mane, earning a Man of the Match award by scoring or assisting all three goals in a 3-0 win against the Reds, while Robertson was one of the worst rated players on the pitch (Whoscored).

As contract issues loom with Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, the Reds could be in need of yet more fresh faces sooner rather than later.
