Alaba shone for Austria
His versatility and qualities have seen him receive a lot of praise, with Pep Guardiola discussing him back when he was Bayern Munich manager. He said: “David Alaba is our God. He has already played in almost all positions.”
For the reigning German and Champions League winners, Alaba has played 396 games, scoring 32 goals and picking up 49 assists (Transfermarkt).
His stats frim the game highlight that Alaba performed well at both ends of the pitch. Whilst Liverpool need defensive cover in the short-term, Alaba’s ability to play in a number of roles could mean that he is more than a stop-gap option, perhaps somebody who could take over from James Milner as the Reds’ utility player.
