Manchester United reinvented their forward line last summer, and the move has proven to be a major success.
Benjamin Šeško, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo have all contributed heavily in front of goal throughout the campaign, with the trio again playing key roles in the weekend’s dramatic 3–2 victory over Liverpool—a result that secured Champions League qualification for next season.
Despite that impressive attacking output, however, it appears the Red Devils are not finished reshaping their frontline.
The club are now reportedly keeping a close eye on a resurgent forward who has rediscovered top form in Europe, as they look to further strengthen their attacking depth ahead of next season.
United Monitoring Malen
According to Corriere dello Sport, Manchester United are among several top clubs tracking the situation of the 27-year-old forward currently impressing during his loan spell at Roma.
After struggling to fully settle during his time at Aston Villa, the Netherlands international has reignited his career in Italy, delivering an outstanding return of 12 goals in just 17 appearances since arriving at Roma in the January transfer window.
His form has been a key factor in Roma’s push for Champions League qualification, with his pace, movement, and clinical finishing once again making him a dangerous attacking threat.
Such has been his impact that Roma are now expected to trigger their option to make the move permanent, with a reported fee in the region of €25–30 million. That valuation is widely viewed as strong value given his current output and age profile.
His performances have also earned praise within the squad, with teammate Neil El Aynaoui describing him as “incredible” during his recent run of form.
While United’s current attack is already firing, the club are understood to be viewing the situation as a potential opportunity to add another in-form, Premier League-proven forward entering his peak years.
