He has fallen so far off the radar here at the Football Transfer Tavern since his scintillating debut for Manchester United and it seems that Federico Macheda is set for another loan spell according to Sky Sports.
The striker is of course not only behind Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney in the pecking order at Old Trafford but also back-up pairing of Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck. This means that he has no playing time in the first team at all and does not even feature on the bench. Macheda hasn’t really featured regularly enough in the Red Devils’ ranks since bursting onto the scene with a great finish in a comeback against Aston Villa which eventually saw United lift the Premier League trophy in 2008/09.
Macheda has already experienced two loan spells with differing degrees of success during his time with United – to Sampdoria and QPR and will hope this latest one in Spain is more fruitful. The striker is off to Spanish Segunda division outfit Elche and an agreement has already been sorted according to the president of the side who claimed: “The agreement between the three parties is complete, but we still cannot say that the player will come because nothing has been signed yet.”
