Kenny Jackett has confirmed that Brett Pitman is unlikely to be available when Portsmouth face Lincoln City on Tuesday, as reported on the club’s official website.
This news comes after he missed the 1-0 loss against AFC Wimbledon, having been forced off in the second half of the 0-0 draw against Gillingham with an injured groin.
On a positive note for Pompey, there are no new injury concerns following the game on Saturday.
In Pitman’s absence, Portsmouth had a total of 22 shots against Wimbledon, with 10 going on target, 9 off target and 3 being blocked, and perhaps surprisingly, absolutely none of them going in, as per WhoScored.
This indicates that Pompey lacked firepower, rather than the ability to create chances against the Dons, with goalscoring having been a problem for the club this season in general – only Bolton Wanderers and Shrewsbury Town have scored fewer League One goals this term.
So far this campaign, Pitman has 3 goals from 5 starts and 6 substitute appearances, which indicates that he could be a useful man to have in these situations.
Having Pitman out is a blow for the team, especially when Pompey’s record in front of goal across this campaign is considered.
Jackett needs a boost with the poor results and pressure he is being put under by the fans and Pitman could have been able to help that.
