Barry Bannan is confident that he will be able to make his return from injury in time to face Millwall on Saturday, as reported by The Star.
The 29-year-old was left out of the 2-0 win against Barnsley on Saturday after tweaking his calf during training.
There is hope from Lee Bullen that the Scotsman will return to training ahead of the game after having had a rest: “We have told him not to do anything for a couple of days because we want to try and give him the best possible chance to recover.”
Bannan played the full 90 minutes in the Owls’ 3-1 opening day victory against Reading, taking the corner that Sam Hutchinson headed in to get Wednesday’s second goal of the game, as shown in the video on Reading‘s official YouTube channel.
In addition, he made two tackles, an impressive five key passes and completed 85% of his attempted passes during the game, as per WhoScored.
The Scotsman started 40 Championship games and came on as a substitute once last season, scoring five goals and assisting 11 times.
This highlights how integral a part of the Sheffield Wednesday squad he can be, so having not beaten Millwall in the league last season, as per 11v11, Bullen will be hoping for the midfielder’s return.
It will be a big boost for Sheffield Wednesday if Bannan is able to be involved, whether that is from the start or off the bench.
However, with Adam Reach having played well in centre-midfield last weekend, with Jacob Murphy scoring from the vacated right-wing position on his Owls debut, there is no need to take any risks in rushing Bannan back.
