Sheffield Wednesday: Journalist outlines advantage over Luton Town

Lee Bullen

Leon Wobschall of The Yorkshire Post has outlined the advantage he feels Sheffield Wednesday have over Luton Town ahead of their clash.

Championship Picks

He pointed out that the Owls have greater squad depth than the Hatters and an embarrassment of riches compared to the league’s new boys, which should see Wednesday have the upper hand, especially considering the quick turnaround of games.

The fact that Lee Bullen completely left Fernando Forestieri out of the squad to face Millwall for ‘tactical reasons’, after the Italian scored six Championship goals in 15 starts and 10 substitute appearances last season, as per WhoScored, is possibly as great a sign needed of this as any.

Bullen also had experienced heads such as Barry Bannan, Jordan Rhodes and Atdhe Nuhiu at his disposal who he could use from the start or the bench, with the trio alone having a combined 683 Championship appearances, as per Transfermarkt.

For context, Luton’s entire bench in their 2-1 loss against West Bromwich Albion had a combined 387 Championship appearances between them.

Luton are currently without a Championship win this campaign, so the Owls will likely go into the game with confidence about the prospect of getting back to winning ways.

That Bullen can call on players such as Forestieri who will be fresh, having not played on Saturday, is certainly an advantage over Luton.

Wednesday fans, happy with all of the options Bullen has at disposal? Will it be enough to beat Luton tonight? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below!
