Manchester City are heading into another pivotal summer, regardless of how the Premier League title race concludes.
While they remain firmly in contention, plans are already being drawn up for a significant squad refresh.
Several departures are expected, with the likes of Omar Marmoush and James Trafford potentially on the move, while long-serving figures such as Bernardo Silva and John Stones are also edging towards the exit. Even Rodri’s future has come under scrutiny in recent weeks.
Now, one of those key names appears to be closing in on his next destination.
Silva Reaches Agreement with Barcelona
Bernardo Silva has reportedly reached an “agreement in principle” with FC Barcelona ahead of a potential summer switch, according to Barca Universal.
The midfielder — described as “special” by Pep Guardiola — is believed to be pushing for the move, with his desire to join the Catalan giants playing a key role in advancing negotiations. Reports suggest he is even willing to take a significant pay cut to help facilitate the transfer.
While the deal is said to be around 80% complete, it has not yet been fully finalised. Barcelona still need to resolve internal matters, including creating space in their midfield, before giving the final green light. Head coach Hansi Flick is understood to be open to the move, but only under the right conditions.
Silva, for his part, is eager to make the switch to La Liga, with his representatives continuing to work behind the scenes to push the deal over the line.
