The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are already preparing for life after John Terry…
The English veteran looks to be closing in on the end of his tenure in London, with Conte often opting to leave him on the bench, and with his contract expiring at the end of the season – it seems as if there is no way back for Terry.
With Terry potentially leaving at the end of the season, though, a gaping hole will emerge in the Chelsea back line – and Antonio Conte must fill it. Chelsea aren’t blessed with defensive depth, and Terry’s departure will only worsen that.
There is good news on that front, then, with the Blues reportedly ready to go back in for defensive star Kalidou Koulibaly.
According to the Daily Star, Conte is eyeing the defender as a replacement for Terry – and a move costing up to £60 million could be made this summer.
A powerful central defender, Koulibaly would add some much-needed steel to the Chelsea back line – replacing Terry perfectly.
Koulibaly has been a star for Napoli this year, having made 19 appearances in Serie A – impressing throughout.
Despite news of the potential addition, the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are far from pleased. They think that Chelsea’s abundance of young players, notably Andreas Christensen, are more than good enough to play a role – and so Koulibaly simply isn’t needed.
