Keane divides fans opinion – The Best of Football Fancast and Transfer Tavern

The Gob On Legs 4 December 2009, 14:30 3 minutes read

RobbieKeaneFootball Fancast has been abuzz this week with one Spurs fan questioning what Robbie Keane needs to do to get a break from critical Tottenham fans; Avram Grant took over at Portsmouth and after thumping home defeats by Manchester United and Aston Villa, probably wishes he hadn’t; Will Arsene Wenger make Martin Keown’s day and sign Ruud Van Nistelrooy from Real Madrid for Arsenal in January and should we all feel sorry for ex Gunner legend and current Barcelona, juggler extraordinaire, Thierry Henry as he becomes the face of all the evils in football in a calculated and selective media witchhunt? Or is he just a cheating French git? Meanwhile on the Transfer Tavern, we have had a look at the new Brazilian superstar dubbed “the new Robinho” who is attracting interest from Europe’s top clubs and Manchester City, we’ve discovered which Premier League manager has got it wrong this season (and no, it isn’t the obvious) and we’ve also looked at whether Mark Hughes and his Saudi paymasters are building a New World Order, which sounds very frightening and doomsday in it’s scope and must be linked in somehow with this 2012 Mayan prophecy. Or maybe not.

Anyway, the highlights this week include;

Keane splits opinion at the Lane, one Spurs fan writes that he thinks Robbies been a little unfortunate since his return from exile at Anfield, the rest of the fans seem to think he’s been utterly hopeless…

The ‘New Robinho’!, Mark Hughes breaks out in a cold sweat at the news there may be another often injured, ungrateful, mercenary Brazilian one-trick pony out there for him to splash millions on…

Pompey Grant-ed their wish, they may not be able to pay their players most months, but they’ve just appointed saggy faced frownster Avram Grant as their new manager and he’s had a major impact already, leading them to two four goal home maulings at the hands of Aston Villa and Manchester United. Bet Chelsea fans are gutted they are left with Ancelotti…

Ruud for the Arse? Arsene Wenger is said to be ready to make a move for Dutch striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy, who remains about as popular as a clogged pulmonary artery at Real Madrid, during the January transfer window. Would it be a good idea, or would Martin Keown strike Wenger from his Christmas card list?

Who’s made a right balls up? Yeah Yeah Yeah, another Rafa Benitez mudslinging fest… Wait a moment… No it isn’t! Someone else is copping the flak and it probably isn’t going to be who you’d think…

Upside to Downing? Stewart Downing’s return from lengthy injury is a welcome boost for Aston Villa, and England. But just where does he fit in Martin O’Neill’s plans for the club?

New World Order starts at Eastlands! We’re all going to die! We’re all going to die! It’s a conspiracy! Or is it just that City may now have edged in front of a member or two of the ‘big four’?

Handy Henry, the Media’s new Whipping boy? Victim of a concerted media hate campaign, or a two-faced cheat who was lucky got away with it?
