Leeds fans have had way more than their fair share of injury problems this season. The Whites have struggled without the likes of Pablo Hernandez, Kemar Roofe and others this season, but as the final run-in draws closer the news that their Swiss defender Gaetano Berardi is back has come as a huge boost to Leeds United supporters.

Last season saw the 30-year-old struggle with issues regarding his discipline as he saw red three times across the Championship campaign. However, this time around it hasn’t been suspensions that have been keeping him out but instead it’s been the crippling injury woes that the veteran defender has been up against. Outings for the U21s have been more consistent, but now he’s ready for a senior return.
This season has seen Berardi make just nine appearances for the club in the Championship, and that is a figure he’ll be desperate to improve upon. The last five Championship games have seen the defender feature on the bench, and he’s come on as a sub just once in those games. However, now the 30-year-old will be ready to feature and Millwall fans won’t be looking forward to facing Berardi on what could be his return to the starting lineup if he has a point to prove.
