Former manager Kevin Blackwell has received plenty of criticism from a large section of the Leeds United fan base, following David Healy’s comments to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Speaking to chief football writer Graham Smyth, the ex-Northern Irish international recalled his frustration with Blackwell’s tactics, noting: “to be honest the formation didn’t suit me as well as it could have done.
“Being a manager now I look back and the manager at the time had the nucleus of a good squad, good players, he wanted to pick the formation, which I was fine with.”
Healy concluded: “I found myself at times playing on the left wing or the right wing. I didn’t feel I was at my best.”

Having moved to Elland Road from Preston North End for £2.48m in 2004, the Manchester United academy graduate went on to score 29 goals in 117 appearances for the Whites, before being sold to Fulham when the Yorkshire outfit faced relegation and administration. The centre-forward won 95 caps for the Green and White Army, bagging 36 goals, and he finally hung up his boots in December 2013.
The 40-year-old is currently in charge of Premiership side Linfield after he was unveiled as the Blues manager all the way back in 2015.
Understandably, many supporters directed their ire at the “clueless” 61-year-old after Healy’s eyeopening comments, with one fan branding his team selection as “criminal,” and another suggesting he is a complete “tool.”

Really confused at the replies to this. Whenever given a chance centrally he looked incredible. Inept managers constantly playing him wide right was so frustrating from the stands.

Didnt wise go a while without playing him. I remember he came to Windsor and we chanted what he was missing. He played him on the right too alot if I remember

Always liked Healy but he just never replicated his international form. He’d bag a hat trick against Spain then go 2 months without scoring for Leeds

It wasn’t an average side but being played out wide by Blackwell was criminal

Cos he was wasted by clueless managers esp that tool Blackwell

Blackwell got it horribly wrong in 2005/06, it should have been Hulse and Healy up front every time
