Mourinho should drop these 2 Man Utd players against Southampton later today

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are enjoying their time at the top of the Premier League table…

It’s been a stellar start to the season for the Red Devils, and alongside Man City, they are leading the way in England.

The games are showing no signs of slowing down, though, and next up for the club is Southampton.

Led by Mauricio Pelligrino, the Saints have made a decent start to the season, though the manager has a lot of work to do to turn his side into the team that the fans in the Transfer Tavern have been wanting to see.

Still, it’ll be a tough game for the Red Devils, and Jose Mourinho will need to pick the right side to beat them. They’ll look to control the game, and that could demand a few different players than who turned out against Everton last weekend.

With that said, Mourinho should drop these 2 Man Utd players against Southampton later today…

Marcus Rashford

Competition for places is almost too good for Jose Mourinho in this position.

Marcus Rashford hasn’t done anything wrong, in fact, quite the opposite. He was stunning in the Carabao Cup, and he wasn’t bad last weekend either.

However, Anthony Martial has really impressed this season, and the pair have shared a rotational role since the start of the season, and the Frenchman deserves to start this one.

Martial played arguably his game of the season in the cup, and that must be rewarded.

Marouane Fellaini

Fellaini is a favourite under Jose Mourinho, but against Southampton, his defensive solidity isn’t really going to be required.

Instead, perhaps Ander Herrera should fill in, given that the Spaniard has yet to really feature this term, and looked very good indeed last season.

Fellaini hasn’t been bad this season, but he looked very average last weekend, and he is far more suited to a late introduction when a lead needs to be held on to.
