Saints want to replace Hughes with Kelvin Davis

It’s safe to say that Southampton have been pretty terrible this season as under Mark Hughes, Saints look as though they could be heading towards relegation.

The club appointed the former Stoke City manager last season and although he kept them in the league, Southampton have been on a terrible run of form. In the 25 matches that Hughes has been at the club, Southampton have only managed to win six games and have only managed 25 points.

Indeed, Southampton haven’t won since their 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at the beginning of September.

Following their 3-2 defeat to Fulham at the weekend, Southampton are now 18th in the table and according to talkSPORT, Southampton are preparing to sack Hughes in favour of club legend Kelvin Davis.

The Breakdown

If Southampton want to stay in the league, they must a make move as quickly as possible. Appointing Hughes on a long-term deal was a poor decision and one that was never going to work out for the south coast club.

Davis might be a club legend but to bring in someone with no managerial experience to a team that is severely struggling for form would be an incredibly risky move.

The fans may not want to see him come into the club but realistically but Southampton must parachute in Sam Allardyce to save them from relegation. He won’t be at the club in the long run but Southampton are coming close to a point where Allardyce is the only option.
