These 2 players have seriously regressed under Koeman at Everton

It’s turning out to be a successful old season for Everton under Ronald Koeman, and the Toffees currently sit 6th in the Premier League table as we approach the final run in.

The Dutchman has brought organisation and solidarity to Goodison Park on the whole, and their fans who come into the Transfer Tavern on a weekly basis are more than happy on the whole.

Some stellar performances from a few individuals, namely Romelu Lukaku, have ensured that the Toffees have had relative success and find themselves pushing for a European place.

However, for every Lukaku, there is a player who is simply not performing. Our landlord thinks that certain individuals at Goodison have simply gone backwards under Koeman, and we tend to agree.

With this in mind, here are TWO players who have regressed at Everton under Ronald Koeman…

James McCarthy

The central midfielder has not had as good a season as he normally would like to have with Everton, and could find himself moved on in the summer unless things change pretty quickly for him.

Koeman has opted for the young talent of Tom Davies over McCarthy on plenty of occasions, and he has definitely taken a step back this season compared to his usual performance levels.

Leighton Baines

It could be argued that this is a controversial choice, but Baines has not quite shown the levels of performance we have come to expect from him.

Out of the picture with England in the main and contributing less goals wise than he normally would, Baines will be hoping next season to get back to the form which once made him one of the top full backs in Europe.
